Col. Bree Fram, a transgender Space Force member, is being forced out of the military and end her 23-year service that began with the Air Force. Fram is currently headed toward retirement due to President Trump’s prohibition on transgender service that was implemented in 2025. The White House implemented the transgender ban through an Executive Order and Department of Defense (DoD) policies. Fram speaks as a civilian as she discusses her time in the military, issues related to her transition and more.

Dr. Jay Gorman, VA clinical psychologist and Education Director of the VISN 1 Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center at the VA Bedford Healthcare System, joins the podcast to discuss how VOICES Veteran Socials enhance communication and foster bonds among veterans and others in the community.

Veteran socials are veteran-led weekly community-based social events with a purpose – getting veterans of all ages and service branches in one place to support and build connection with each other. Dr. Gorman stresses the importance of social connection to combat loneliness and isolation and improve overall health.

Chelsea Porterfield recently retired from the U.S. Army, where she served as a platoon sergeant in the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). During her four years there, she became the first woman to lead a marching element onto Arlington, she became the 38th Sergeant of the Guard, and in 2021 she became the fifth woman to earn her Tomb Guard Identification Badge.

Chelsea talks about her military experience, including her struggle with suicide and how she worked through it and has now become an advocate to help others to seek help.

Author and activist Erin Miller shares the story of her grandmother, Elaine Danforth Harmon, who served with the Women Airforce Service Pilots - or WASPs - during WWII.

When her grandmother's final wish to be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery was denied by the U.S. Army in 2015, Erin began a grassroots, social media and lobbying campaign to fight the decision and have a law passed to recognize the service of the WASP for inurnment eligibility at Arlington National Cemetery.
