Retired Command Sgt. Maj. Bart E. Womack served the United States Army with distinction for over 29 years as a professional soldier, providing leadership, and mentorship to Officers and Enlisted soldiers, with whom he had the privilege to serve.
This Airborne-Ranger’s personal dedication to excellence contributed immeasurably to the readiness of the Armed Forces and the security of our great nation.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Park University, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Waynesburg University, and is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 48.
Highlights of his distinguished military career include Drill Sergeant, Ranger Instructor, and Sergeant of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He is a two-time combat veteran, one with the 101st Airborne Division in Iraq and one in the Joint Security Area, DMZ, Korea. A few decorations include two Bronze Stars - one for Valor, the Legion of Merit, the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, the Tomb Guard Identification Badge, the Army Ranger Tab, and the Combat Infantryman Badge with star.
Womack culminated his career and dual roles as Commandant of the 101st Airborne Division NCO Academy and as the 101st Airborne Division, Command Sergeant Major.
He retired from active-duty June 30, 2006.
Immediately following the military, Bart went to Hollywood to work as an actor and military technical advisor for feature film and TV, working alongside the likes of Robert Redford and Peter Berg. Utilizing his combat skills, he trained Armies in Afghanistan and Nigeria, and he mentors U. S. Army ROTC Cadets, the future Officers of the U.S. Army.
He is a Board Member for Veteran Retreats Foundation, has served as a show host and contributor to The Veterans Channel, and recently served as Program Manager for IVMF at Syracuse University, assisting veterans and transitioning service members to enhance their post military careers. October 2020, Bart was vested as a Knight into the Order of St. George, Grand Priory of Canada and the Americas. October 2024, he was recognized by the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers as their 'Salute to Hero' honoree.
A published author of Embedded Enemy, Bart shares a first-hand account as a survivor of the deadly inside threat terrorist attack against the 101st Airborne Division, by a fellow American soldier. Bart has since adapted his book into a screenplay to align with studios and filmmakers to create Embedded Enemy the feature film.
Bart is a thought leader, speaker and specialized consultant in safety and security, dedicated to mitigating active shooter and insider threat attacks. He leverages his experience, expertise and knowledge from a survivor’s perspective on insider threats, to deliver engaging and informative talks, that empowers audiences with a proactive approach to security in the workplace, academic institutions and places of worship.
