Matthew Shuman has lived in Washington DC, our nations capitol, where he now works as the Director of Strategic Congressional Relations for Philips Healthcare. Shuman, a respected government and congressional affairs expert is a veteran of the worlds greatest army, where he proudly and honorably served as a Military Police Officer and then on the Honor Guard.

Prior to joining Philips, Shuman served as the National Legislative Director for The American Legion National Headquarters, leading the organizations engagement with the United States Congress, federal agencies and the White House. During Shuman’s time the national staff of The American Legion, the organization championed legislation such as the VA Appeals Modernization Act, the VA Accountability & Whistleblower Protection Act and the notable VA MISSION Act, that streamlined and improved the way veterans received care outside of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

In October 2022, Shuman was appointed as the Chairman of the National Security Commission of The American Legion, where he and the national security staff are dedicated to ensuring our nations active duty personnel and their families have the necessary resources to protect America while ridding the world of evildoers. Shuman is a proud member of The American Legion Department of Arizona, Post 44 in Scottsdale and The Sons of The American Legion and The Riders.
