Michael “Rod” Rodriguez is CEO and President of the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation. He is an outspoken advocate for veterans and their families and speaks often about strengthening the connections between civilian and military communities.
A member of a military family, Rodriguez is a retired Special Forces Green Beret with 10 deployments, from his first to Somalia with the 10th Mountain Division in 1993, to several deployments with the 7th Special Forces Group while in uniform, to a recently completed deployment to Somalia in the summer of 2021.
His last assignment as a Green Beret was as a sniper instructor at Fort Bragg, N.C. After 21 years of continuous service, he was medically retired for numerous injuries he received while in the service.
