Dr. Jay Gorman is a licensed Clinical Psychologist at the VA Bedford Health Care System in the Veterans Mental Health and Addictions Program. He is also a Research Investigator for the VISN1 Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC) and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Boston University School of Medicine.
He completed his doctoral internship at the Butner Federal Correctional Complex. His clinical research focuses on social integration, community-building strategies, and developing social support systems for Veterans managing isolation, loneliness, addiction, and mental health concerns. Dr. Gorman also has a background in working with Veterans living with serious mental illness and organizations that offer opportunities for those living with mental health concerns opportunities for friendship, employment, and education.
Dr. Gorman is an active member of the National Peer Support Services’ Think Tank, coordinated by the VHA Office of Peer Support Services. Further, Dr. Gorman serves as a community reintegration consultant on a VA Health Services Research & Development funded multi-stakeholder partnership to enhance Veteran community reintegration research that seeks to identify and overcome delays in improving VA policies, programs, and services.
